Townhouse Village Fire - Call for Donations

Our hearts and thoughts go out to our friends at Townhouse Village in light of the recent fire.  The CAA would like to rally by showing support in the form of donations for the displaced families.

The following items have been requested:  bedding for full-size mattresses including sheets, blankets and pillows, as well as, towels, washcloths, shower curtains, paper towels, toilet paper, silverware, utensils, glassware, toiletries including shampoo, soap, toothpaste, etc.  Cash gift cards are welcome too.  Please contact Cathy Hontz, chontz@apartmentguide.com, to donate.  Items may also be dropped off at Nirenblatt and Hoffman, 1660 Sam Rittenberg Boulevard, Charleston, SC 29407 during regular business hours.

Diamond Awards Sponsorship Deadline

Spring is in the air which means the Diamond Awards are right around the corner!  The annual awards ceremony will take place the evening of March 22 at the Francis Marion Hotel.  We freshened things up a bit this year by offering an array of different sponsorship opportunities with examples ranging from individual award category sponsorships, to a photo booth and new this year is the ability to sponsor tables.  Click here to peruse the sponsorships offered.  Friendly reminder:  the sponsorship sign-up deadline is this Thursday, March 7th.

Maintenance Mania Reminder

Maintenance Mania 2013

We're on the hunt for the best maintenance technicians in Charleston! 

Maintenance Mania is the opportunity for apartment maintenance technicians to compete against each other in various skill-based games focused on frequent maintenance issues.  We welcome spectators and competitors to join us for a night of friendly competition, food and friends.  In addition, there are a number opportunities to get involved including being a judge, sponsor or volunteer.  If interested please contact John Clark, stjamesmgr@greystar.com, 843-771-0870.

A reduced room rate of $199/night at the Francis Marion is available for CAA attendees that evening.  Expect event registration information to be distributed shortly.   

Committee Sign-ups

Looking for ways to get to know other industry professionals?  Members are encouraged to consider joining a CAA committee.  Volunteering on a committee gives participants the unique opportunity to meet other members in a small group setting while working to achieve committee goals.  The committees offered are:  Legislative, Programs and Events, Membership, Suppliers Council, Communications, L.E.A.D., Charleston Cares, Education and Member Relations.  Please contact Cathy Hontz, chontz@apartmentguide.com, to sign-up.   

Calling All Kickball Enthusiasts

The CAA is forming a kickball team to participate in the Charleston Sports and Social Club league beginning in the next 2-3 months.  Teams have one game per week and there's a nominal $50 fee to sign-up.  If interested, please contact Andrew Dupps, adupps@thegreeneryllc.com. 

2013 SCAA Legislative Day

All CAA industry allies are encouraged to join us during this special opportunity for key leaders to see and meet the faces of our industry, which speaks volumes and resonates throughout the year as vital issues are discussed.  A legislative program and overview of current legislation affecting the multi-family housing industry will begin at 9:30am followed by a luncheon with legislators at the Capital City Club, 1201 Main Street, 25th Floor, Columbia, SC.  The day will conclude by 3pm.  Registration Information:  The cost is $35 per attendee (includes registration & materials, refreshments and lunch).  Registration begins at 9am, with the meeting commencing at 9:30am.  Please click here to register and click here for a detailed facts sheet.  Please register by February 18th.    

Location Update:  Both the meeting and the lunch will be held on the Capital City Club, 1201 Main Street, 25th Floor, Columbia, SC  29201.  Parking is available in the municipal garage on the corner of Lady and Assembly Streets (1100 Lady Street).  We will walk over to the State House after the morning program.
