Windwood Farm Home for Children

Charleston Apartment Association Gives Back to
Windwood Farm Home for Children

The Charleston Apartment Association (CAA) was honored to recently provide Windwood Farm Home for Children a contribution in the amount of $6,800.  Windwood provides therapeutic residential services to local abused and neglected children providing a safe haven for over 400 children since opening in 1985.  Over 100 CAA members rallied to contribute through participation in a golf tournament dedicated to raise funds and awareness for Windwood.

This year the CAA designated Windwood Farm as the organization’s primary charitable focus.  Through this partnership, the CAA was pleased to be invited and participate in Windwood’s “Got Your Back” campaign.  Supporters of Windwood Farm, including the CAA, were excited to be in the local PR campaign supporting the organization.

“Just as our industry provides housing for thousands of locals, Windwood Farm Home for Children provides housing and a healing environment for local children who need it most.  The Charleston Apartment Association is honored to come together for such a noble cause” said Wendy Tucker, President, Charleston Apartment Association.

The mission of the Charleston Apartment Association is to recognize the vastly increasing role of the apartment industry in providing quality housing.  As members of the Charleston Apartment Association, we have united for the purpose of improving the services of the apartment industry, staying abreast of legislative issues, networking amongst our members, offering educational programs, participating in charitable endeavors, and featuring local and national speakers.  We adhere to and practice the 'Golden Rule' in all our endeavors and conduct ourselves in a forthright and ethical manner to better the communities of which we are a part.

Wine Tasting Benefiting the National Apartment Association's Political Action Committee (NAAPAC)

A hearty thank you again to the sponsors, attendees and to Woodfield Long Point for making last month's wine tasting a success.  A special thank you to food and/or wine sponsors: Ehrlich Pest Control, Rainbow Custom Flooring, Inner Motiva, Edgewater Plantation, Darby Development, Wendy Tucker, Victoria Cowart, Marysa Raymond, Cathy Hontz, Ellen Hoffman, Tori Stein, Tony Scruggs, Katie Chapman and silent auction donors:  Ehrlich Pest Control, Carter Haston, Atkinson Pool and Spas, Furniture Rentals, Furniture Services, Forever Green, eLifespaces, Appliance Warehouse, Atlantic Palms and the Charleston Home Builders Association.

The event raised $1,700 for NAAPAC and $375 for the NAA's Better Government Fund (BGF).  NAAPAC's goal is to keep the multifamily rental housing industry at the forefront of legislation.  The impact our industry makes both locally and nationally starts right here at home with local participation.  NAAPAC supports political leaders and candidates who are advocates and open to learning more about our industry.  Their support is vital when topical legislation is on the table.

Raffle to Benefit the National Apartment Association's Political
Action Committee (NAAPAC)

NAA is $18,000 away from making history.  $340,000 has been raised for PAC this year and $142,000 for the Better Government Fund (BGF).  That's just $18,000 away from the half million dollar goal.  Please join in on this last drive toward the end of an outstanding year.  Click here by December 14th to participate and potentially win an iPad3 just in time for the holidays.
