The day begins with presentations in the morning and then Lunch with the Legislators from 12-2pm. Stay tuned for more information, including registration details, to come. 2015 NAA Capitol Conference Save the Date for "One Industry. One Voice."  Join your peers for the apartment industry's only national advocacy event where you become stronger advocates and then turn your knowledge into action with your members of Congress.  Fly in the afternoon of March 16, participate in advocacy education on March 17, then fly out after your Capitol Hill meetings on March 18 to make the most efficient use of your time and resources.  Registration opens in October.    Terrorism Risk Insurance Act from the International Council of Shopping Centers With the looming expiration of the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act (TRIA) on December 31st, Congress must act now to reauthorize the program on a multi-year basis. Congressional inaction on TRIA is being felt across the country as businesses are being notified that their terrorism risk insurance coverage will expire at the end of the year. Such a lapse in coverage places all secured lending in danger of default as borrowers find themselves unable to secure the insurance coverage required to satisfy loan covenants, affecting commercial properties of all sizes in both urban and rural settings.  In July, the Senate passed S. 2244, by a vote of 93-4, which would extend TRIA for an additional seven years while also implementing further taxpayer protections. The proposed House reauthorization, H.R. 4871, would extend TRIA for an additional five years, but calls for significantly more changes to the program.
