CAA Dragon Boat Team

CAA Dragon Boat Team - The "Pineapple Express"

For the first time the CAA is sponsoring a team in the Dragon Boat Festival this year named the "Pineapple Express".

To share some background, the mission of Dragon Boat Charleston (DBC) is to promote the mental and physical wellness of cancer survivors through the sport of dragon boating.   DBC believes that the sport affords those diagnosed with cancer an opportunity to reclaim their sense of self, feel strong, set long term goals and push the restart button on their lives.  Dragon boat paddlers outlive the statistical odds, have improved quality of life and find life-long friends who understand their struggle.  Club members compete world-wide, enjoy year-round fitness programs and unbreakable bonds.  Through fundraising efforts, all cancer survivors participate in this life-changing program free of charge.  The money raised for the Charleston event helps survivors here locally.

Saturday, May 2nd Brittlebank Park, 8am - 4pm
Each paddler needs to commit to raising $100 when registering
Sign-up here:  http://ow.ly/Il9Ex
Spectators may attend for free
Sign-ups are first come, first serve and capped at 30 people

Team sign-ups will go as follows:  Open to general CAA membership and then if needed it will open to friends/spouses.

Paddlers will participate in 3 races throughout the day lasting 1 minute each.
Paddlers are expected to attend 2 practices a few weeks before the race (date and time to be announced).

Tee-shirt sponsorship opportunities will be shared with membership in the coming weeks.
