Charleston Apartment Association
Legislative Pulse

The CAA Legislative Pulse is a monthly newsletter designed to keep Charleston Apartment Association members abreast of topical political news impacting our industry.  The CAA Legislative Pulse will be released to members the fourth Tuesday of each month.

Wine Tasting Benefiting the National Apartment Association's Political Action Committee (PAC)

Date:    Tuesday, October 16th
Time:    6:30-8:00pm
Place:   Woodfield Long Point, 335 Stonewall Court, Mt. Pleasant, SC  29464
Cost:    $40/member

Event proceeds go toward the National Apartment Association's Political Action Committee (PAC).  PAC's goal is to keep the multifamily rental housing industry at the forefront of legislation.  The impact our industry makes both locally and nationally starts right here at home with local participation.  PAC supports political leaders and candidates who are advocates and open to learning more about our industry.  Their support is vital when topical legislation is on the table.

Here's How NAA's Legal Assistance Program
Protects Our Industry

If your company is involved in a case at the appellate level, NAA can help by submitting a "friend of the court" (amicus curiae) brief on your behalf.  NAA's appellate Legal Assistance Program (LAP) provides expert attorneys who draft and submit a legal brief that:

  • Supplements and strengthens the arguments your counsel makes to the court.
  • Reminds the court of the national policy implications of your case and why your company's legal position strengthens the country's vital housing industry.

So far this year, NAA has filed briefs on behalf of the apartment industry in three high-profile cases on issues including immigration, disparate impact and housing vouchers.

If you want help with your court case, the LAP Committee will review your request based on a number of factors.  To find out more, go here
